Under The Pier At Saltburn By The Sea I love the coast and all of our holidays are based close to the ocean. This is the last remaining pier in the whole of Yorkshire in the UK and, if you didn't already know, is Saltburn Pier. I made this black and white, which I think makes this photograph quite moody. It was an overcast day when we visited, which is probably why the beach is empty from people and dogs which were allowed on when we went there. By Paul Thompson Photography

That the Surf Scoters of White Rock Pier are habituated to the presence of humans is a bit of an understatement. These were a few of hundreds of these large black seaducks who routinely passed under the boardwalk during a crisp but sunny morning visit in early November 2019, giving great bird's eye views of that colorful and comically oversized schnoz that the ladies of his kind have found so fascinating for so long.

Sullivan Bay, Sorrento, Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia. Sullivan Bay is the site of Victoria's first white settlement back in 1803. The settlement was located on the eastern point. The two calcarenite headlands that border the 400 m long bay are known as The Sisters. A foreshore reserve backs the western half of the bay and the historic section of the eastern Sister. Houses and some private jetties are located along the eastern half of the bay. There is a public parking area just off the Nepean Highway in the centre of the bay.The beach faces north-east and receives usually low wind waves. It consists of a relatively narrow strip of sand, fronted by 100 to 200 m wide tidal sand flats.
