Tesla coil experiment. Electrical streamers sparking outwards from a large Tesla coil at left to another one at right, at the laboratory operated by Serb-US physicist and electrical engineer Nikola Tesla (1856-1943) at Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA. Tesla (seated on the chair) operated this laboratory from 1899. The coil named after him is a type of resonant transformer that is used to produce high-voltage, low-current, high-frequency alternating current electricity. Tesla emigrated to the USA in 1884. His research led to key advances in areas such as alternating current power generation and transmission. The SI unit of magnetic flux density is named in his honour.

Caricature of the Swiss psychologist and philosopher Jean Piaget (1896-1980), smoking a pipe. Piaget is best known for his pioneering work in child development. Much of his study of theories of human knowledge (epistemology) was based on how children's minds develop and his theory of cognitive development and epistemological view are together called 'genetic epistemology'. Piaget showed that children think in different ways to adults and demonstrated that children's misconceptions are often entirely logical if their limited knowledge is taken into account. His work led to the creation of scientific fields such as developmental psychology and cognitive theory.

From a piece of Artwork by the Japanese artist, Utagawa Kuniyoshi. The original is titled 'Bando Mitsugoro On The Stairs'. It's shows a scene from a Japanese dance-drama from the 1800's. In a cool, grunge, vintage distressed look.
