John Steinbeck's, novel of the Great Depression, THE GRAPES OF WRATH image shows the bleak Dust Bowl landscape where a car, readied for a journey waits as the sun sets on a lonely farmhouse.

C. 1935 political cartoon depicting Franklin D. Roosevelt and his wife, Eleanor riding a donkey towards Moscow in the Soviet Union. Roosevelt seen holding a microphone as he used during his ' fireside chats ' while his wife holds a Communist banner. Both the president and first lady unaware that they are headed over a cliff. I have a few other of these vintage Anti Roosevelt cartoons uploaded as well as many other vintage political designs.

C. 1935 political cartoon depicting President Franklin D. Roosevelt reacting as his ' Big Government ' policies have begun to destroy American business. The cartoon titled ' Frankenstein (?) D. 1933-1935 Roosevelt New Deal program

In the 1930s, as the Great Depression ravaged the country, millions of men left their homes for an itinerant hobo lifestyle. They criss-crossed the country on trains and would leave scrawled markings on fences and walls to communicate with each other. That "hobo code" became a language of its own, and this is one of my favorite symbols.

An elephant, the mascot or symbol of the Republican Party, is seen pushing the US economy which at the time was in ruins from the Great Depression. On the left hand side a Donkey, the mascot or symbol of the Democrat Party is seen.

1936 print from the Republican Party's nominee for president, Alf Landon and Ralph Knox. The two did not fair well with Franklin D. Roosevelt's popularity just about insurmountable. They lost every state in the union with the exception of Maine and Vermont.

This is a great restored vintage poster print designed by artist Hugh Stevenson for the Philadelphia Zoo in Pennsylvania. Stevenson was commissioned by the WPA (Works Progress Administration) with the US Government in the 1930s to create artwork that would help artists gain income as well as provide more publicity for attractions throughout the US. This program was sponsored shortly after The Great Depression and was a part of The New Deal to boost the economy.

Yet another one of the amazing posters that came from the Works Progress Administration (WPA) during the great depression and into World War II. This poster comes from the state of Illinois WPA safety division reminding workers to make it safe to their jobs. This is a great piece of Americana as it's printed in red, white and blue! This is an historical map of how the dust bowl affected the southern landscape. Pretty rough considering most of the affected areas couldn't plant any crops for a long time and most of these areas were farms!

From the 1930's, the seal of the Civilian Conservation Corps. Part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt's " New Deal ", the Civilian Conservation Corps provided work for millions of men during the Great Depression. From 1933 to 1942 these men provided manual labor needed to improve America's public lands, parks and forests.
