The Boys are Back! Wear your favorite (fictional) swing band with pride with this tour shirt from the Donny Nova Band’s first tour in 1945, The Nobody Tour! ;) Also available in mugs, prints, phone cases, and bedding, I rendered this logo since the Playbill Store is no longer selling anything from Bandstand: a New American Musical, due to it’s closure and lack of production on merchandise. While this shirt does not include the exact tour schedule that the original shirts did, I have made up my own that include all of the clubs that the DNB played at in Cleveland, Ohio, as well as all of the other stops along the way that I thought they would play at during their first tour.

Evening at Brighton on England's East Sussex coast and a group of young people demonstate break dancing skills in the Victorian Bandstand on the seafront promenade. The bandstand was designed by the Borough Surveyor, Philip Lockwood, and was opened in 1884. It fell into disrepair during the mid 1900s but has been restored to its former glory and was reopened in 2009. Its design mirrors the spirit of the Brighton Pavilion just down the road! This superb example of late Victorian extravaganza is a feature of the seafront promenade at Brighton, East Sussex. It was originally designed by Brighton's then Borough Surveyor, Philip Lockwood and was opened in 1884. Beverley Bandstand, Black And White The iconic bandstand in Beverley Marketplace, Yorkshire, England In 2007 Beverley was named as the best place to live in the United Kingdom in an "Affordable Affluence" study by the Royal Bank of Scotland. Beverley is also full of stunning architecture including Beverley Minister, which is regarded as one of Europe’s finest gothic churches and is a major tourist attraction. After the Reformation, the stature of Beverley was much reduced. In the 20th century, Beverley was the administrative centre of the local government district of the Borough of Beverley (1974–1996).

This is a scene familiar to many of our parks on a Summer Sunday afternoon - relaxing as a local brass band plays. In this case its Romsey in Hampshire that I've painted (oil on 12x16 inch board), but it could be anywhere, since these bandstands appeared in UK parks up and down the country, inspired by the architecture of India in the days of empire. No politics intended here of course, just a record of what is.
