Monday December 31st 2012 offered surfers a big swell and light off-shore winds. Weatherman says to expect 25' - 30' waves.

This is a view of Waipio Bay, on the Big Island of Hawaii, as a storm passed by. I like that I was able to get a glimmer of sunlight on the hills of the Kohala Forrest Reserve across the Waipio Valley. And the speck above the cliffs isn't dirt on the lens. Look closely and you'll notice it's a dragonfly that was hovering around as I photographed. No doubt it was feeding on the mosquitoes, which had been feeding on me the whole trip. Now that's life in the food chain. Taken in May, 2012, with a Pentax K5.

Word on the streets is that sharks do actually have really bad breath, courtesy of a veritable smorgasbord of bacteria. It's these bacteria that causes a multitude of infections in shark bite victims, which doctors have a hard time treating do to the multitude of sources. But enough marine biology... this retro '80s surfer design has a lighter take on the issue of shark breath and what a bummer it can be when your friend gets eaten 🤷‍♂️
