Sport modern messages from a 1965 vision of the future with flat screen monitors in a world that was just enjoying color TVs with round non-flat displays.

Defunct Salt Lake Golden Eagles Hockey 1969-1994

The Dayton Gems were a professional ice hockey team based in Dayton, Ohio, in the Central Hockey League. The team was originally a member of the International Hockey League before it merged into the CHL. The team was established in 2009 and joined the IHL for the 2009–10 season, where it played three seasons until 2012. The team was named after the original Dayton Gems of the original International Hockey League.

In 1964, the Tulsa Oilers joined the Central Professional Hockey League (later shortened to Central Hockey League) in its second season of operation. The Oilers won the Adams Cup as the CPHL/CHL champions in 1968, 1976, and 1984.The Oilers played in the CHL until 1984 when the league folded.

The Halifax Citadels were a professional ice hockey team based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. They played in the American Hockey League between 1988 and 1993. They were created by the relocation of the Fredericton Express and filled a void left by the relocation of the Nova Scotia Oilers to Cape Breton. The Citadels, named after the Halifax Citadel military fort, were affiliated with the Quebec Nordiques National Hockey League team. Home games were played at the Halifax Metro Centre, located at the base of Citadel Hill. The franchise was moved to Cornwall, Ontario in 1993, where they were known as the Cornwall Aces. One year later, the Halifax Mooseheads of the QMJHL filled the void in the market.

The Fort Worth Texans were a professional ice hockey team based in Fort Worth, Texas. They started play in 1967 as the Fort Worth Wings, a minor league affiliate for the Detroit Red Wings. They were part of the Central Hockey League from 1967–1982.

The Plattsburgh Pioneers were a junior ice hockey team, based in Plattsburgh, New York, who played just 17 games in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League during the 1984–85 QMJHL season.

The Albuquerque Six-Guns were a professional ice hockey team playing in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. They were in the Central Hockey League in the 1973-74 season only. They played in the Tingley Coliseum. They were set up as a farm team of the Kansas City Scouts but that team did not enter the National Hockey League until the following season.

The Dallas Freeze were a CHL team from 1992-95. They marked the first return of pro hockey to Dallas since the Dallas Black Hawks left in 1982.

The San Antonio Iguanas were a minor league professional ice hockey team based in San Antonio, Texas. The first expansion team in the Central Hockey League, they were active for seven seasons from 1994–1997 and 1998–2002. Their home arena was the Freeman Coliseum. The team ceased operations after failing to find local investors following the introduction of the San Antonio Rampage—which resulted from a joint partnership between the Spurs and the Florida Panthers.
