Haweswater Reservoir In The Cumbrian Lake District We drove all the way round Hawswater only to find the the car park was full and there were no spaces on the roadside. Luckily, on the way back there were no vehicles following so I just kept stopping and getting out to take a few photographs of this stunning lake. The harbour at Maryport on the north coast of Cumbria. Maryport is the southernmost town on the Solway Firth and across the water can be seen the Scottish coast, This was once a thriving port centred round the coal and ship building industries. Having declined in importance since Victorian times, it is now developing as a holiday and cultural centre and the harbour is now home to fishing boats and yachts.

Innominate Tarn is a small tarn in the northern Lake District National Park in Cumbria, England. It is located near the summit of Haystacks. The name Innominate means "without a name", however it was formerly known as Loaf Tarn. Alfred Wainwrights ashes were scattered in the area.

Honister Pass Slate Mine Before we left for our Cumbrian holidays, this is one of the photographs that I really wanted to get. Last time we came I couldn't find a place to stop and get this shot and once you have passed the walls it would be very hard to turn around and come back. The Honister Slate Mine in Cumbria is the last working slate mine in England. Quarrying for Westmorland green slate has been taking place in the area since 1728. Apart from the mining it is also a popular tourist attraction in the Lake District National Park. This image looks it's best in a large format print, canvas or anything but it must be BIG.

From my original photograph, a view of the East Cote Lighthouse or light tower at Silloth on the north Cumbrian coast in the style of an oil painting. The tower stands on the cliff top looking over the Solway Firth to the Galloway hills in Scotland. It was established in 1841 to aid the ships sailing between Annan and Port Carlisle. In the 1850s it was apparently placed on a short track in order for it to be moved as necessary. It now shines a green light over the Silloth approach channels.

Little Langdale is a valley in the Lake District, England containing Little Langdale Tarn and a hamlet also called Little Langdale. A second tarn, Blea Tarn, is in a hanging valley between Little Langdale and the larger Great Langdale to the north.

Derwentwater Tree Roots Derwentwater, or Derwent Water, is one of the principal bodies of water in the Lake District National Park in north west England. It lies wholly within the Borough of Allerdale, in the county of Cumbria. The lake occupies part of Borrowdale and lies immediately south of the town of Keswick. Christmas The Lake District Herdwick Sheep Cumbria Funny

Lookling out over the Solway Firth after a day of stormy weather. This was captured on a summer evening between Maryport and Silloth on the north Cumbria coast. Across the water are the hills of Galloway in southern Scotland - now visible as the weather clears. Often after a day of storms, this stretch of coast seems to reward with spectacuar light as the sun finally breaks through.

A beautiful calm day at Derwentwater afforded the opportunity to pick up some lovely reflections of the Skiddaw mountain range reflected the the still waters.

Alston Town Roof Tops Alston is a town in Cumbria, England, within the civil parish of Alston Moor on the River South Tyne. It shares the title of the 'highest market town in England', at about 1,000 feet (300 m) above sea level, with Buxton, Derbyshire. Despite its altitude, the town is easily accessible via the many roads which link the town to Weardale, Teesdale, and towns in Cumbria such as Penrith via Hartside Pass, as well as Tynedale. Historically part of Cumberland, Alston lies within the North Pennines, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The tiny quaint Victorian church of St Margaret is found within the grounds of Low Wray Castle not far from the eastern shore of Lake Windermere. The church is barely visible from the castle driveway in summer, hidden by trees and foliage but can be seen from the road as you pass the lodge and gatehouse.

Ashness Bridge, Cumbria Ashness Bridge is a traditional stone-built bridge on the single-track road from the Borrowdale road (B5289) to Watendlath, in the English Lake District, Cumbria. The brisge is at grid reference NY270196, and is known for being a fine viewpoint across Borrowdale towards Skiddaw, including views of Derwent Water nearby. It or its predecessor may have been a packhorse bridge conveying packhorse traffic from Watendlath to Keswick. Near the bridge is a small cairn to Bob Graham, who ran a round of 42 Lakeland peaks in 1932 (in under 24 hours), a record which was not equalled for 28 years.
