Down in the harbour at Tenby a row of kiosks sell boat trips to Caldey Island, for fishing, or just for fun. This glimpse of life is easily missed as the colourful buildings view for attention. Painted in oil on a 20x8 inch board.

Off the tourist trail, Bath has lots of interesting little corners and delightful little parks. This one lies across the Pulteney bridge, and at the far end of the grand terrace, behind a gallery. I'm guessing that this was once a toll booth for entering the park, but now it serves coffee! I've painted this in oil on a 10x12 inch board, a scale at which you may notice a few brush marks and not so straight lines!

From an original engraving published 1881. The engraving is titled temple of Isis, Island of Philae, but I think this is actually the building referred to as Trajan's Kiosk. Info from: touregypt.net: This is the so-called Kiosk, sometimes referred to as "Pharaoh's Bed". The rectangular building has fourteen columns with beautifully carved floral capitals that once supported a wooden roof. Only two of the screen walls between the columns are completed. They show the Emperor Trajan burning incense before Isis and Osiris and offering wine to Isis and Horus. Paint Them Yellow Number of views as of 18th March 2018 = 680. People all over the world are familiar with Britain's red telephone boxes. However, on the Channel Island of Guernsey, the boxes are identical to their British counterparts except for their colour. They were originally painted yellow when Guernsey Telecoms was state-owned, but from 2002 they were painted blue. These boxes at St Peter Port bus station were blue but in 2009, yellow made a comeback. Fascinating stuff eh, the long winter evenings must just fly by. Date: 23rd August 2014. I am fascinated by the vibrancy of a good market, and especially the twice weekly market in Salisbury, with its ever changing mix of stalls, matching the ever changing weather. Here I've captured in oil on board a typical winter's day market, with a coffee and cake stall I've not seen before. Yes there is a toilet block just behind the seated gentlemen, but I was hoping it was discrete enough for you not to notice! Browse around to find my other Salisbury market paintings.
