Miller Park • Milwaukee Brewers • MKE WI: Miller Park (now AmFam Field) is located in what used to be the center field parking lot of Milwaukee County Stadium. County Stadium was home to the Brewers from 1970-2000 and the Milwaukee Braves from 1953-1965. Fans attending Brewers games during their final four seasons at County Stadium were able to watch Miller Park rise as it was built. Helfaer Field, a $3.1 million Little League ballpark, is located next door to Miller Park on land formerly occupied by County Stadium. Rockwell Clock Tower • Polish Moon • MKE, WI: Milwaukee is home to the largest four-faced clock tower in the U.S. The Allen-Bradley Clock Tower, nicknamed the Polish Moon because of its proximity to a historically Polish neighborhood, was the largest of its kind in the world (bigger than Big Ben) until the Abraj Al-Bait Towers were built in 2010. Milwaukee Chicks • 1944 League Champions: The Milwaukee Chicks, in Wisconsin, were a women's professional baseball team which played in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League during the 1944 season. They were managed by Max Carey, former star player for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Brooklyn Robins and a future Hall of Famer. Milwaukee County Stadium • Milwaukee, WI: Milwaukee County Stadium was a multi-purpose stadium. Opened in 1953, it was primarily a baseball park for Major League Baseball's Milwaukee Braves and later the Milwaukee Brewers. If you were lucky, you might've scored a couple Packer tickets back in the day. The National Football League's Green Bay Packers played 2 or 3 home games per year at County Stadium from 1953 to 1994. Hank "The Hammer" Aaron hit his 755th and final home run on July 20, 1976 at County Stadium. This stood as the career home run record for 31 years until broken by Barry Bonds* in 2007. The park is meant to commemorate the people referred to as Kashubs, immigrants who settled the "island" and formed a vibrant urban fishing community there after being forced from northern Poland by Prussia in the 1800s.
