Sicily Sun Posters and Art Prints

Patterns and backgrounds of all kinds have always appealed to me enormously, the possibilities are endless. If we combine them with elements like the sun, we can achieve unique things, a nod to Sicily, one of the most beautiful and historically rich islands in Europe.

Wordart with the theme of Sciacca, a city in Sicily. Sciacca is known for its thermal waters, ceramics, fresh fish and its historic carnival. The city has a rich history dating back to antiquity, with many influences from various cultures including the Greeks, Romans and Arabs. Sciacca is also famous for its beaches and offers spectacular views of the Mediterranean. The city has a lively fishing port and a number of historic churches, palaces and other architectural structures. Furthermore, Sciacca is surrounded by breathtaking nature, including the Monte San Calogero Natural Park, which offers opportunities for hiking and birdwatching. Overall, Sciacca is a charming city with much to offer residents and visitors alike.

The city of Syracuse has been continuously inhabited since the 14th century BC. and occupies the island of Ortigia. Syracuse was founded in 734 BC. from colonists of Corinth and became, according to Cicero, "the largest and most beautiful of all Greek cities". During the Greek period, Syracuse reached its maximum splendor. Who placed himself at the head of its defense during the siege of the Romans in 212 BC1. It became the capital of the Byzantine Empire under Constans II. In 2005, the city of Syracuse was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, together with the Rock Necropolis of Pantalica.

Its thousand-year history combines with the charm of the sea, the sun and the wind, with the richness of many archaeological remains and works of art, with mythological origins, with unique traditions, good food and fun. The economy today is based on the tertiary sector, fishing, the extraction and export of marble, and activities related to trade and tourism. The city has a refined historic center, important religious events and a fairytale natural setting. The oldest nucleus of the "city between two seas" develops within the narrow strip of land that spreads thinning, towards the west, where it ends with the Ligny Tower, with the Lazzaretto and the Villino Nasi.

Vintage, vintage, vintage! I put it everywhere, in the decoration at home, on posters, bags, invitations... Here is a creation inspired by the beginning of the 20th century with the pomegranate, this unique fruit, as guest star.

Wordart with the theme of Licata, a city in Sicily. Licata is an important seaport and one of the main centers in the province of Agrigento. The city has a rich and ancient history, with settlements dating back to the prehistoric period. Over the centuries, Licata has been inhabited by different civilizations, including the Greeks, Romans and Arabs, each of which has left its mark on the culture and architecture of the city. Today, Licata is known for its beautiful beaches, its delicious Sicilian food and its historic sites, including Licata Castle and the Church of Santa Maria La Nova. The city also hosts several events and festivals throughout the year, attracting visitors from all over the world.

Situated 200 meters above sea level on a natural terrace of Monte Tauro, Taormina offers an enchanting view: mountains and lush parks, the turquoise waters of the bay of Naxos (just below the city), and in the background the majestic Mount Etna and the Ionian coast. The city, founded by the Greeks, has always been a thriving and rich centre. Among the best-known monuments, the Ancient Theater stands out, remarkably well preserved and located in an exceptional panoramic setting. Taormina is a city of great historical and natural charm, a true jewel of Sicily.

Wordart with the theme of Agrigento, a city in Sicily. Agrigento is a city located on the southern coast of Sicily. Also known as the "City of Temples", Agrigento is famous for its expanse of Doric temples of the ancient Greek city located in the so-called Valley of the Temples, which has been included among the world heritage sites by UNESCO. The city was founded around 581 BC. and saw the settlement of various peoples who left their mark on the island. Agrigento reached its maximum splendor in the 5th century BC, before the decline started by the war with Carthage. It was recently named Italian Capital of Culture for 2025.

Wordart with the theme of Palermo, a city in Sicily. Palermo today is the result of its thousand-year history and the extraordinary melting pot that has characterized it. The city is a splendid mix of art, including the remains of Punic walls, Art Nouveau villas, Arab-Norman residences, Baroque churches and neoclassical theatres. In the 12th and 13th centuries the city was the driving force of Arab-Norman art and architecture, whose main monuments are part of the Arab-Norman Palermo serial site and the cathedrals of Cefalù and Monreale, declared a world heritage site by UNESCO in 2015. It was then the place of formation of the Sicilian Renaissance, the Sicilian Baroque and one of the capitals of Art Nouveau in Italy and Europe.

This was taken in Sicily in one of the most picturesque villages I have been lucky enough to visit.

Wordart with the theme of Catania, a city in Sicily. Catania is a city located in the south-east of Sicily, on the coast washed by the Ionian Sea. The city is located just twenty minutes from the highest active volcano in Europe, Etna, and Taormina. Catania boasts a thousand-year history characterized by a succession of various cultures whose remains enrich its artistic, architectural and cultural heritage. The city has been affected several times by volcanic eruptions and earthquakes, the most catastrophic of which occurred in 1169 and 16932. The baroque of its historic center has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Catania also hosts the third largest Christian holiday in the world, the feast of Sant'Agata.

Wordart with the theme of Augusta, a city in Sicily. Augusta was founded near the site of the ancient Doric city of Megara Hyblaea by Emperor Frederick II of Swabia in 1232. Frederick called it Augusta Veneranda and it became one of his favorite locations. The city was rebuilt after the Val di Noto earthquake of 1693. In the Second World War it was one of the main bases of the Royal Navy, and was one of the landing ports of the Anglo-American forces. The historic center of Augusta is located on an island, created by cutting an isthmus in the 16th century, connected to the mainland via two bridges. Augusta is home to two ports: Megarese and Xifonio.

I like to assemble patterns to create original decorations like the whole world, like here with this magnificent colorful pattern, inspired by the most beautiful Indian fabrics.

Wordart with the theme of Marsala, a city in Sicily. Marsala is famous for Giuseppe Garibaldi's docking on 11 May 1860 (the feat of the Thousand) and for its Marsala wine. A characteristic element of the area is the Stagnone Nature Reserve, a marine area with salt pans. Marsala is built on the ruins of the ancient Carthaginian city of Lilybaeum and includes in its territory the archaeological site of the island of Motya, an ancient Phoenician city. The historic center of Marsala is small and intimate, and can be explored on foot in a couple of hours. Marsala is a place to be enjoyed slowly. From its baroque historic center to its salt pans and the island of Mozia, discovering it in small sips leaves a pleasant aftertaste... of wine.

Wordart with the theme of Capo d'Orlando, a city in Sicily. This city, which developed as a fishing village, is today a predominantly tourist and commercial center in the Nebrodi area. It was originally a fraction of Naso, but achieved autonomy on 1 August 1925. The name Capo d'Orlando derives from the famous paladin of France Orlando, companion in arms of Charlemagne. The foundation of the city of Agatirno is generally placed around 1200 BC, before the foundation of Rome and the colonization of Sicily by the Greeks. The city is much appreciated for its sea and its beaches. A good part of the town lies mainly along a narrow plain, closed between the sea and a hilly strip that extends parallel to it.

Wordart with the theme of Mazara del Vallo, a city in Sicily. It is one of the most important and well-known fishing ports in the Mediterranean, with a fleet of around 400 large deep-sea trawlers. The historic centre, once enclosed within the Norman walls, includes numerous monumental churches, some dating back to the 11th century. The oldest part of the city has the typical features of the neighborhoods with an Islamic urban plan typical of the medinas, called casbah, with narrow and winding streets, it represents one of the very few remaining architectural testimonies of the Arab presence in Sicily and Italy.
