Southern Highlands Posters and Art Prints

Looking at this amazing view near Belmore Falls in the Southern Highlands made me appreciate how lucky we are in Oz to have such beautiful scenery. This is a 3 vertical photo stitch of photos taken from the lookout. I tried a 2 horizontal photo stitch but preferred this one. Lots of sunshine but few dark shadows .. perfect !! A misty mountain hop, skip & jump through Kangaroo Valley a few years ago revealed this gem of a waterfall flowing down the mountain. Being my first trip to the Kangaroo Valley, I didn't realize at the time that this wasn't a permanent feature, but a flow created by a heavy downpour. Subsequent trips were missing this great sight. Fitzroy Falls was impossible to see because of the rain & blowing mist, so I had to go back another day for that beautiful view. I needed the telephoto lens to capture this, which explains the slight fuzziness. I like the misty cloud .. bottom right. For the entire afternoon I spent in Landmannalaugar (in Iceland's Highlands), I kept looking around thinking how the landscape couldn't possibly be real. The rhyolite mountains shifted from browns to reds to greens and back again, and seemed to change with every turn of the head. It really did feel like I was in an impressionist painting; I wonder if the two hikers in this shot felt the same?

It is named after Lord Hampden, Governor of New South Wales from 1895 to 1899. I got as much of Fitzroy Falls in this shot as the high railing at the lookout would allow. It is a two photo stitch. I did a little trip to the Southern Highlands of New South Wales (Australia) & discovered all these amazing old buildings & country churches in Bowral & Berrima. This is the Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Berrima. Designed by Edmund Blacket in a simple Gothic Revival Style, the church is built from stone quarried directly behind it. The stained glass windows came from a church in Cornwall in England and are thought to date to the 15th Century. It was consecrated in 1849. The interior is especially fine with excellent stained flass, wooden fittings, and old brass oil lamps converted to electricity. *Feature* Canon DSLR, Aug 2016.
