This shirt "design" was based on an illustration by Coert Du Bois in Fearsome Creatures of the Lumberwoods, With a Few Desert and Mountain Beasts, a 1910 "fantasy field guide" by William Thomas Cox (specifically as it was reprinted in the January 28, 1912 issue of the New York Daily Tribune).

Known as perhaps the saddest and most pathetic creature on the planet, the Squonk resides in the Hemlock forests of NEPA, otherwise known as the Poconos which is where I originate from. This poor mythical piggy is described as having skin that doesn't fit well, covered in warts and boils and because of its hideous appearance it hides all the time and cries like I do when my favorite pizza place is closed.
