Dora Maar was born in Tours, France, to a Croatian father and a French mother. She studied painting at the Académie Julian in Paris and later pursued photography, becoming a successful fashion and commercial photographer. Her photographic work showcased her artistic vision, experimentation with techniques, and a keen eye for capturing emotions and perspectives.

PERE UBU 1979-1982

The rider in the picture is French symbolist writer Alfred Jarry, the author of Ubu Roi. Jarry is a predecessor of Dadaism and Surrealism and an inventor of so-called pataphysics.
