The view standing on the toll bridge at Whitchurch-on-Thames and looking upriver towards Pangbourne weir - captured on a November afternoon. The first bridge here was wooden and was constructed in 1792 followed by a further one in 1852. The present bridge is iron and was originally built in 1902. It was recently refurbished in 2013--14. It is one of only two toll bridges remaining over the Thames, the other being at Swinford. Canon Powershot G12

The classic Menai Bridge shot for tourists and holiday makers who wish to pull up and just take a shot! I've taken many an image from here using point and shoot and smartphone cameras... but this time I took my mirrorless camera, tripod and classic lens and worked on a slightly longer capture than usual using long exposure photography - to add more texture to the water and to the clouds. The colour balance was adjusted in camera and later in post... with that still very authentic classic vintage lens look that you get with Pentax glass.

A beautiful place in the UNESCO World Heritage City of Quedlinburg: The stone bridge

The Kennet and Avon Canal at Kintbury in West Berkshire. This is the view looking eastwards from the bridge towards Kintbury Lock on an autumn afternoon. Carry on eastwards from here and you eventually reach Reading and the River Thames, Behind us the canal continues through Berkshire and Wiltshire to reach Bath and Bristol.

The view standing on Caversham Bridge, Reading, looking downstream on a bright and sunny afternoon. On the left a boat is moored at Pipers Island - the third smallest named island on the Thames. A little further on is De Montfort Island or Fry's Island, the scene of a trial by combat between Robert de Montfort and Henry of Essex in 1163. We can also see The Blade, Reading's tallest office block and the tall towers of some new apartments by the railway station.

The view of the River Thames looking downstream from Halfpenny Bridge in Lechlade, Gloucestershire. This is the highest navigable point on the river as just a little further upstream it becomes narrower and shallower. Here though, boats are moored by the meadows where cattle graze while swans preen and wait for handouts of food! Lechlade is an attractive market town at the southern tip of the Cotswolds close to the Gloucestershre and Oxfordshire border.

Standing on the historic bridge at Henley-on-Thames in Oxfordshire looking upriver. Here there are cafes, bars and restaurants overlooking the River Thames. Here also can be found boatyards where everything from rowing boats to river launches can be hired - or perhaps go on a river trip for an hour or two. This is a historic area for sport and is the site of the famous Henley Royal Regatta which has been held since 1839, gaining 'Royal' status under the patronage of Prince Abert in 1851. Amalfi is the main town of the coast on which it is located, named Costiera Amalfitana (Amalfi Coast), and is today an important tourist destination together with other towns on the same coast, such as Positano, Ravello and others. Amalfi is included in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Standing on the bridge over the Kennet and Avon Canal at Hungerford in West Berkshire on a bright, frosty morning in early December. This is the view looking eastwards. Carry on along here and you reach Reading, the Thames and eventually London. Hungerford is a picturesque old market town near the border with Wiltshire, famed for its antique shops. Peaceful now but once busy with working boats carrying their loads between Bristol and London.

Behind us is the Town Bridge and Hungerford Wharf. Ahead of us the waterway flows through Newbury before carrying on to Reading where it meets the Thames.

This colourful panorama has captured the iconic city of London skyline in soft afternoon light with a double rainbow. The skyline includes many iconic landmark buildings, including the historic St Paul's Cathedral and modern skyscrapers such as the Shard, the Cheesgrater, Tower 42 (formerly the Nat West Tower), the Heron Building and the Walkie Talkie.
