My first venture out with my new camera! The dawn sky was very interesting and the heavy frost on the wooden staithes was very slippery but I was pleased with this effort.

Just after sunrise on an August morning in Northumberland and the Port of Blyth Pilot cutter is already at work going out to meet a ship on the North Sea and preparing to guide it into the river.

Strong winds and rough seas at the beginning of February produced some spectacular sights as the waves crashed against the lighthouse on the end of the pier protecting the mouth of the River Blyth and the entrance to the Port of Blyth harbour in Northumberland.
