There is nothing more uplifting in Spring than the sight of a carpet of bluebells spread through a wood. There is really something quite magical, but you really have to be there to feel it, as its very much a surround and overwhelm your sense type of experience. So its with trepidation that I've attempted to capture something of it in this painting, for those unable to get to an English bluebell wood. Its based on photos I took, and the feeling I had in my local wood in Spring 2022. At the time of writing its just a few weeks too early for this year's display.

Bluebell Wood Number of views as of 21st June 2018 = 310. The merry, merry month of May is a fine time to rediscover those ancient English woodlands, and the carpets of bluebells often found there. This particular wood is not far from the village of Corfe Castle, Isle of Purbeck, Dorset, England. Date: 11th May 2014.

Footprints in a Bluebell Wood

Beautiful bluebell woods in spring, in English woodland near Winchester, Hampshire, in dappled sunlight. Bluebells carpet the floor of the forest, while the trees have the lush, fresh green vibrant foliage of springtime.

Evening light filters through the leafy branches of this bluebell wood, creating a dappled pattern on the forest floor. The bluebells themselves become even more captivating as the golden light caresses their petals, their hues transforming into a kaleidoscope of blues. The air is imbued with a sweet, fragrance, carried by the evening breeze. The symphony of nature continues with the rustling of leaves and the gentle chirping of birds that add harmony to the visual spectacle before you.

Bluebell Wood

A magical painting of a bluebell fairy wood - the first of three spring fairy paintings. It is May and the bluebells create a carpet of beautiful blues and purples across the woodland. A badger set play amongst the bluebells and flower fairies work with the butterflies to help the plants and trees in the woodland thrive and grow. The fairies watch on from their treetop home as the sunshine streams through the trees.
