Winter Snow Storm no. 2 © Neil Feigeles, Winter 2013 On a very cold winter's evening after a winter storm, I was walking and looked down and discovered this moment in time beneath my feet. The only time I don't complain during a cold winter season, is during and after a snow storm, I just love seeing what nature creatures. How vistas of new and sadly temporary designs are created in these beautiful dimensional landscapes. I always get visions of abstract images in my head. The shapes that form. How nature just knows how to crate beauty even in things that most look at just a nuisance. And once I took out my iPhone and saw what I was seeing, I had to take several images to share with others. Hope you like.

Briefly, the sun shines down over the white landscape.

This image, originally captured on film in 1987, shows a solitary tree in the midst of a snow squall. The image was captured on a road running north from London, Ontario. We had tried to drive up to our cottage that day, but had to turn around as the snow squall developed. Visibility was significantly reduced, creating an otherworldly experience, something that deserved to be captured. I've always loved the look of trees in winter; their summer drapery of leaves gone to reveal their skeletal structure. But on this day, as the snow blew and stuck to the windward surfaces, it defined this tree in an artistic way, almost as if the darkness of the tree had been etched from a white canvas. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it.

It was a late winter day when the snow squall started. I had been up to our cottage but the weather turned on my return journey. While it was early afternoon, so the day was bright, the snow had transformed the sky and land into a white, opaque scene, with little detail in the distance. The gravel road was almost completely snow-covered, but the skeletal trees stood out from the white wilderness.
