Abundant in most areas except those with nutrient poor soil- their abundance is a good indicator of soil quality. Noteworthy features: They use their tusks to dig through the soil, disturbed soil runs down their back and is redistributed by the tail fins, hiding their progress. They sense prey using the sensitive touch and taste receptors on their tendrils, and catch it using their barbed tongue, which they shoot out to spear worms and insects in adjacent tunnels.
