The Rover SD1 is both the code name and eventual production name given to a series of executive cars built by the Specialist Division (later the Jaguar-Rover-Triumph division) of British Leyland (BL), under the Rover marque. It was produced through its Specialist, Rover Triumph and Austin Rover divisions from 1976 until 1986, when it was replaced by the Rover 800.

Rover is a former British car manufacturing company founded as Starley & Sutton Co. of Coventry in 1878. It is the direct ancestor of the present day Land Rover company, which is a subsidiary of Jaguar Land Rover, in turn owned by the Tata Group. Throughout the long history of ups and downs, Rover has used emblems, based on the Viking theme. The latest version, used from 2003 to 2005, saw the Viking longship become silver with red sails.

Weymouth Rover Number of views as of 4th March 2018 = 875. A rather fine classic car, pictured on Weymouth promenade (Dorset, England), believed to be a 1948 Rover 12 Sports Tourer. Rover 12 production began in 1905 and continued until the late 1940s, with several 'updates' along the way and gaps in production during the war years. Classic Truck never die

This small scrapyard is on the edge of the pretty village of Almocíta in La Alpujarra Almeriense with the Sierra de Gador behind. Whenever I visit Almocita, I always make a detour to look at this fascinating collection of old vehicles and machinery and the little red plane must have a story to tell. There are many delightful corners to paint in this village but I have painted these before and the scrapyard offered a different subject and challenge.
