Iao Valley State Monument Study 11

In this fantasy landscape scene, the last remains of an ancient stone structure lay strewn about a green valley along the banks of a small river full of rapids. Forests of dark green fir trees fill this land, and, in the distance, mountains rise towards the sky. Atop one of those mountains is the hint of tower, but it is too far to tell for sure if it is the stronghold you seek. Inspired by the works of the Hudson River School and Albert Bierstadt as well as long hours of playing Skyrim.

Whillian Beck runs over the the Eskdale Moor of the western Lake District in the county of Cumbria, England coming from the surrounding Scafell mountain range and the Bournmoor Tarn, where it runs alongside The Coffin Route. Looking past the small wooden bridge, the Scafell range begins to appear on the right and, in the distance Wasdale Head, with Yewbarrow visible. The image was taken with a thirty second exposure, to make the most of the clouds and fast running water. Canon 5D Mk3 24 - 105 L series lens.

The footpath from Tidmarsh to Sulham in West Berkshire as it passes over a brook, sometimes called locally the Tid Brook, This image was captured during a January afternoon as the sun was getting lower in the sky producing lovely warm colours. Sulham, seen in the distance below the trees of Sulham Hill, is a small village lying by the Sul Brook which makes its way to the Thames just downstream from Pangbourne.

Wherwell in the valley of the River Test (Hampshire, UK) is renowned for its pretty black and white timbered cottages with thatched roofs. Walk just a little out the village though and you come to this enchanted footpath crossing the clear, shallow waters of the river. It is surely one of the best kept secrets of the Test Valley. Based on a photo I took in Spring, I've painted this in oil on a 20x16 inch board.
