Defunct Denver Dynamite Football Team

The Denver Dynamite were an arena football team based in Denver, Colorado. The team began play in 1987 as a charter member of the Arena Football League. The team was brought in by businessman Sidney Shlenker and the team achieved success instantly, winning the first ever ArenaBowl under future AFL Hall of Fame coach Tim Marcum. After sitting out the 1988 season, the Dynamite were purchased by investment banker Gary Graham for $125,000. Graham then hired former NFL and AFL coach Babe Parilli to lead the team. Under Parilli, the Dynamite would return to the playoffs every season, but failed to return to the ArenaBowl. After the 1991 season, the franchise was sued by their public relations firm and filed for bankruptcy.

Defunct Ottawa Rough Riders Football Team

The Sacramento Attack was an Arena Football League team that debuted in the league in 1992 and played a single season. The Attack were originally going to be named the L.A. Wings, but shortly before the 1992 season started L.A. was scrapped and the team was shipped to Sacramento. After one season the team was moved to Miami, Florida, to form the Miami Hooters. The franchise's AFL tenure ended in Sunrise, Florida, where the Florida Bobcats played from 1996 to 2001, folding after the latter year.

The Chicago Bruisers were a professional arena football team based in Rosemont, Illinois. They were founded in 1987 as a charter member of the Arena Football League (AFL). The Bruisers would be disbanded after competing in the 1989 season. The final two games they played were in exhibition games overseas against the Detroit Drive in Paris and then London in October 1989.

The Crush played in the Central Division of the American Conference until the Arena Football League suspended operations in 2009. They were last coached by Mike Dailey and owned by a coalition of Denver sports figures led by John Elway.

The Albany Firebirds were a professional arena football team of the AF2 based in Albany, New York. Albany was granted an expansion team in 2002 and began play as the Albany Conquest. The Firebirds played their home games at the Times Union Center. They are the second arena football team for Albany, as the city was granted an expansion team, the Albany Firebirds, in the Arena Football League in 1990. The team moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in 2000 and played as the Indiana Firebirds through 2004 before disbanding. Then the city of Albany ventured into the world of arena football again, this time joining the AF2 in 2002, creating a new franchise by the name the Albany Conquest.

The Chicago Rush were a professional arena football team based in Rosemont, Illinois. The team played at the Allstate Arena from 2001 to 2013. They were a member of the Central Division of the National Conference of the Arena Football League. Founded in 2001, the team qualified for the playoffs 11 out of 12 seasons and won one AFL championship, ArenaBowl XX in 2006. During their history, the Rush won five divisional titles and competed in the AFL Conference Championship six times, including four consecutive appearances from 2004 to 2007. They also had the largest market in the AFL. After the 2013 season, the Rush announced that their operations were suspended and are currently not part of the Arena Football League.

The Cleveland Thunderbolts were an Arena football team based in Richfield, Ohio. The Thunderbolts were founded in 1991 and were a member of the Arena Football League (AFL). In 1994, the franchise relocated to Columbus The team played for four seasons total, making the playoffs once. They played their home games in the Richfield Coliseum. The team was moved to Cleveland by John J. Kuczek.

The Gladiators were one of four charter teams created to showcase the Arena Football League's inaugural season in 1987. The team played every season from 1987 to 1990, making it to ArenaBowls I and III, before relocating to Tampa Bay, Florida, where they became the Storm.

The original Milwaukee Mustangs is a franchise primarily recognized by the Arena Football League. They entered the league in 1994 and played until just after the turn of the century, 2001. The team's name would be revived roughly ten years later after a fan vote in 2011 changed the name of the 2009-10 Milwaukee Iron into the Milwaukee Mustangs, a team that would play until the 2012 season. The 1994 Milwaukee Mustangs are one of only six teams in AFL history to go winless in the regular season.

The Columbus Wardogs were an arena football team in af2 that played their home games in the Columbus Civic Center in Columbus, Georgia, from 2001 through 2004. The franchise was relocated as the Mississippi Headhunters for the 2006 season, but did not play any games.
