Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was a British writer, who created the character Sherlock Holmes. Over time he eventually wrote four novels and more than fifty short stories about Holmes and Dr. Watson.

The ghost of Sherlock Holmes is well and alive in the minds of every A. Conan-Doyle reader.. and in the mind of everyone who’s ever heard about the legendary detective. Celebrate his awesomeness by wearing this skull:)

Sherlock Holmes is a fictional detective created by British author Arthur Conan Doyle. Referring to himself as a "consulting detective" in the stories, Holmes is known for his proficiency with observation, deduction, forensic science and logical reasoning that borders on the fantastic, which he employs when investigating cases for a wide variety of clients, including Scotland Yard.

How "Sherlock Holmes" came to be written for the stagetheatre is an interesting story. Curiously enough, it was not at the suggestion of Dr. Conan Doyle, Mr. William Gillette, or Mr. Charles Frohman, who is Mr. Gillette's manager, but through the inventive genius of an American reporter. This enterprising individual wrote a paragraph to the effect that Conan Doyle had stated that should anyone ever dramatize Sherlock Holmes it would be William Gillette.
