This is one of my biggest paintings. I wanted a painting that looked into the Tardis. Initially, I wanted the Doctor to have his hand out-stretched, beckoning me to join him. But I wondered too much if I was worthy of such adventures. I have struggled with social anxieties a lot and have found it too easy to retreat into myself (and into shows like this). So instead, I had the Doctor look as though he was considering me - Are you ready to follow the Mad Man in the box? Are you willing to conquer the real world? Some day.

I made this on the question: What does the Doctor see when he/she sees a reflection? Existentially, it must be complicated when you've regenerated so many times and had so many faces. This is one of my most popular pieces online, which means that it had some controversy. Particularly the fact that I seemed to have left the 9th Doctor out. I wanted to include Eccelston. I also wanted to include all the other Doctors, but it wasn't feasible, so I left Easter eggs instead. Apparently, that wasn't enough for some people and they thought I was trying to erase the 9th Doctor from the canon, which is just stupid.

David Tennant wasn't the first Scottish actor to be the Doctor. And Peter Capaldi wasn't the first Scot to play the role with a Scottish accent. These honors go to Sylvester McCoy. He was the Doctor from 1987 to the shows cancellation in 1989 after 26 seasons, though technically he was the Doctor until 1996 when he appeared briefly at the beginning of the Doctor Who TV movie before regenerating into the 8th Doctor, Paul McGann. As I've argued before, the cancellation shouldn't be blamed on the 7th Doctor. He was brought in only after the ship already hit the iceberg, so to speak. Wilfred Mott is every Whovian’s grandfather. Throughout series Four, we knew that the Doctor’s life would end with four knocks. Everyone assumed the four knocks was leading to the Master. And after the Doctor defeated the Master and Rassilon, it was Wilfred’s selfless mindset that led to the 10th Doctor’s demise. Also, Wilfred and the Four Knocks sounds like a cool indie rock band. This is based on a promo picture for the ‘Listen’ episode in Series 8. This was one of my favorite episodes. As someone with a long history of sleep walking and talking to strange shadows in my sleep, this episode really freaked me out. It also set the foundation of the Doctor’s ‘no weapon’ approach to saving the universe, not to mention, we got our first glimpse of the Doctor as a scared child on Gallifrey.
