The quote "mission failed, we'll get 'em next time" was first introduced in COD Modern Warfare, the sixth installment of the series and the direct sequel to COD4: MW released in November 2009. In the game, the quote is uttered by the character Ghost over radio transmission when the player dies or fails to accomplish the objective in a special ops mission.
