Spurn Point Lighthouse And Groynes The current Spurn Point Lighthouse was established in 1895. After it was decommissioned in 1985, the lighthouse lay derelict for a number of years until it was restored in 2016. Guided tours are available through the Spurn Discovery Centre, which the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust runs. The centre also has on display a section of the former optic from the lighthouse. The current tower replaced the previous old High Lighthouse. It was originally surrounded by accommodation, but the foundations are now overgrown and barely visible. Looking past the colourful beach huts towards the end of the promenade at Blyth in Northumberland on the North East coast of England. The sandy beach stretches south towards Seaton Sluice with St Mary's Island and a cargo ship visible on the horizon.

The incoming tidal flow of the sea as it begins to submerge the remains of the old groynes. Captured using an extended shutter speed to enhance the outgoing flow, then converted to black and white to add drama to the image.
