Jandía is a peninsula in the southwestern part of the island of Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands. The peninsula is entirely in the municipality of Pájara. Within the peninsula is Fuerteventura's tallest mountain, Pico de Jandía or Pico de la Zarza, that rises to an elevation of 807 m. Jandía is connected with the rest of Fuerteventura through the isthmus Istmo de la Pared. Most of the peninsula has been a nature reserve (Parque Natural de Jandía) since 1987.

The Duchess of Richmond's ball was a ball hosted by Charlotte, Duchess of Richmond in Brussels on 15 June 1815, the night before the Battle of Quatre Bras, which was fought on 16 June 1815, as a preliminary engagement to the decisive Battle of Waterloo that occurred two days later.

The Rifle Brigade (The Prince Consort's Own) was an infantry rifle regiment of the British Army formed in January 1800 as the "Experimental Corps of Riflemen" to provide sharpshooters, scouts, and skirmishers. They were soon renamed the "Rifle Corps". In January 1803, they became an established regular regiment and were titled the 95th Regiment of Foot (Rifles). The unit was distinguished by its use of green uniforms in place of the traditional redcoat as well as by being armed with the Baker rifle, which was the first British-made rifle accepted by the British Army in place of smooth-bore muskets. The first battalion fought at the Battle of Quatre Bras, while all three battalions would fight at the Battle of Waterloo.

Château d'Hougoumont (originally Goumont) is a walled farm compound, situated at the bottom of an escarpment near Waterloo, Belgium. The site served as one of the advanced defensible positions of the Anglo-allied army under the Duke of Wellington, that faced Napoleon's Army at the Battle of Waterloo on the 18th June 1815.

The hilltop town of Mojacar in Andalucia, Spain is situated on the Mediterranian coast. The town lies about 2 Km from the beach area, Mojacar Playa. Although largely modern now, the town has a very long and distinguished history and gained importance as a Moorish stronghold on the frontier with Christian Spain. The Gower Peninsular is one of my favourite places in UK and, as soon as we check in to our hotel, our first stoip is this beautiful bay just down the road from the wonderful town of Mumbles. I hope lockdown will end soon so we can visit again. I have painted Limeslade Bay many times and this is the largest version so far. The original is available from bobpetcher.com

Blairgowrie Pier, Mornington

Not Torbay Devon but Tor Bay on the Gower Peninsular in South Wales. This fabulous beach is just a little way along from Oxwich Bay. watch out for adders, but it is still a great place and a good starting point for a small series of acrylic artworks.
