Penmon T-Shirts

Art is subjective! For some, they might find this image - sickly. Almost like that of the overly powerful fruit tang, like that of the popsicle, FAB like we used to have in the 70's... For others, they might find this photographic piece... somewhat more refined and cosmopolitan, almost like a Benetton sweater, or more of a Magnum, in the chocolate world... Whatever your taste ~ I decided to go overboard with this capture and add a little bit of punch to the cocktail... More 'Cosmopolitan' than popsicle...!

Penmon or Trwyn Du (Black Point) Lighthouse is on the SE coast of Anglesey Island (Ynys Mon), North Wales. It stands between Dinnor Point and Ynys Seriol (Puffin Island), marking the passage between the two islands and the northern entrance to the Menai Strait. It was constructed between 1835 and 1838 and originally had two keepers but has been unmanned since 1922. It has a 15000cp light which can be seen for 12 nautical miles and in 1996 it was converted to solar power. Canon EOS 20D

Like the strong contrast here between the stripey lighthouse and the zig zagging rugged rocky outcrop of limestone shore - for which Penmon is renowned for...

A tricky capture! Not for the faint hearted and shot from a precarious and slippy point on pen-mon. Working in post, my interpretation on this became one of a more blue ocean setting. Inspired in thinking, by that of the 'great wave off Kanagawa tidal painting' by the Japanese artist Hokusai.

Penmon, Anglesey - North Wales

The Priory Church of St Seiriol at Penmon in Anglesey, North Wales. This was part of a monastery founded in the 6th century AD by St Seiriol. It was eventually dissolved, along with other religious houses in 1538 in the reign of Henry VIII.

I saw this in an instant and made this image. I had just finished a shoreline shoot - so light was failing and I still had a circular polariser on my camera... With the angle of incidence of light falling obliquely upon the glass and dropping into the lens and onto the sensor - this image manages to capture the transition of light from day to night... The moon very small in the sky is apparent in the shadow shaded part of the image and the light falls onto the pilots cottages just nicely along with a sinusoidal type capture of transition of light from light to dark - day to night... Although not my usual material... on full frame - I think its just right !

Working on long exposure on the lower shore was somewhat tricky and precarious... but using my tripod for support in moving across the rocks, I managed okay... Working out the timings of the period of the waves, I then calculated long exposure for this smouldery smoothed out look of the sea across to Penmon lighthouse...
