A quiet lane in a village in the Langedoc region of southern France. It's a hot June day and the shutters are closed over the windows in the houses. Bright red roses give a splash of colour in the sunlight against the pastel shades of the surrounding walls. This image has a chalk pastel finish to complement the scene.

Erto is an Italian municipality in the Province of Pordenone in the Italian region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 130 kilometres (81 mi) northwest of Trieste and about 40 kilometres (25 mi) northwest of Pordenone. Erto and Casso were the two villages in the Vajont valley, above the artificial lake, before the Vajont Dam disaster on 9 October 1963. The landslide and flood killed almost 2,000 people in total, destroying five villages in the Piave valley but leaving Erto and Casso only slightly damaged. The two villages were cautionally evacuated within three days of the disaster and the valley stayed empty for three years thereafter. The church of St Nicholas in the village of Sulham in West Berkshire, England. It forms a third of the joint parish of Pangbourne, Tidmarsh and Sulham. The church is in the centre of the village standing next to Sulham House. Originally dating from the C13th , it was rebuilt between 1836 and 1838 by Rev John Wilder, vice provost of Eton College who lived in Sulham House. This picturesque village nestles in a dip of the North Wessex Downs, lying between Streatley (Berkshire) and Wantage (Oxfordshire), the nearest town being Didcot. Its maze of small streets and lanes are lined with both brick and half-timbered buildings. Several springs rise in the village feeding a small lake and in times past watercress was cultivated here.
