River Tyne T-Shirts

Trying out some things with a smartphone (Samsung Galaxy S4) with cheap fisheye lens attached, brought out this interesting image of the Tyne Bridge, Newcastle Upon Tyne

The famous bridge over the River Tyne. The Tyne Bridge is just one of many bridges cross the Tyne River in Newcastle upon Tyne but this is certainly the most well known and the shape of the bridge is often seen used as an icon of the North East. Decked out ready for the Great North Run in this image.

This image was taken on a very blustery day in November with the North Sea crashing into Tynemouth Pier and the early morning sunshine lighting up the sea outside the shadow of the pier itself . Work on the pier was started in 1854 and it was originally curved, but storm damage to the central part of the pier led to it being re-built in a straight line. The image has been given a panoramic crop for something just a little bit different.

The Priory is thought to have been founded in the early part of the seventh century and is the burial place of three kings; Edwin of Northumbria was the first in 651a.d. then Osred, King of Northumbria in 792a.d. and finally Malcolm III King of Scotland in 1093. This image was taken on an overcast June morning from a local authority car park.

The Fish Quay at North Shields is a colourful place at most times of the day, even at night when the day's work is done. This image was shot on a cold, bright December evening with the colourful boats nicely lit up under the flood lights and casting their reflections on the calm water.

The High Level Bridge is a road and rail bridge spanning the River Tyne at Newcastle upon Tyne. Using 5050 tons of iron, the bridge was completed in June 1849. This image shows the mouth of the bridge at night looking towards the Gateshead side of the river with a woman at the end of the pedestrian path checking her mobile phone. This image is also available in colour.

The High Level Bridge is a road and rail bridge spanning the River Tyne at Newcastle upon Tyne. Using 5050 tons of iron, the bridge was completed in June 1849. Looking out over the two piers at the mouth of the River Tyne is the Tynemouth Life Brigade Watch House with the Collingwood Monument visible behind it. The Watch House was built in 1887 and is now a museum

The Millenium Bridge, Newcastle, the bridge links Newcastle’s thriving north bank with the Gateshead Quays arts and cultural quarter. The bridge is essentially two graceful curves, one forming the deck and the other supporting it, spanning between two islands running parallel to the quaysides.

Sitting on the banks of the River Tyne and looking like an alien object, The Sage Gateshead is instantly recognisable when visitors approach Newcastle upon Tyne over the Tyne Bridge. Made of curved glass and stainless steel, The Sage was opened at the end of 2004 and is now a major music venue, being home to the Royal Northern Symphonia as well as hosting a variety of concerts and music classes. The building was designed by Foster and Partners, who received a number of awards for the design.
