Shaldon T-Shirts

Such a relaxing life, where you can step out on your local beach for a break in the sun whenever you like. I've painted this idyll in oil on board, based on photos I took on a summer day trip to Shaldon (Devon, UK)

The jumble of boats on the shore at Shaldon (Devon, UK) with their blue tarps reminds me of waves lapping at the shore, and so inspired me to paint this unusual view of the shore there (oils, 12x12 inches). Feel the warmth of summer from this restful holiday scene.

Returning from the secret beach via the smuggler's tunnel the first glimpse of Teignmouth is from the edge of Shaldon and this hostelry. It seems only right to stop for some refreshment with a view before taking the little ferry across the river Teign. What better way to sped a summer's day in Devon? This is Ness Cove beach. Its a secret beach reached via a secret smuggler's tunnel from nearby Shaldon in Devon. Being secret it was naturally crowded when I visited. I was going to add the crowds, but then realised I like the painting with out them. Just two remain, at the exit of the tunnel. Painted in oil on a 16x12 inch board, I found that the Devonian sandstone paints well with a mix of crimson alizarin and chrome yellow and a little permanent mauve.

Shaldon is a village in South Devon, England. It is located on the south bank of the estuary of the River Teign, opposite the town of Teignmouth. The village is a popular bathing place and is characterised by Georgian architecture.
