The bridges over the River Tyne in Newcastle upon Tyne are more well known than any other attraction in Newcastle city., The Tyne Bridge in particular is a recognised symbol of Tyneside. Now a Grade II listed building the steel structure was officially opened in 1928. In this view you can also see Newcastle Quayside, a popular place for tourists to take stroll along the river.

The Tyne Bridge was designed by the engineering firm Mott, Hay and Anderson and was built by Dorman Long and Co. of Middlesbrough who later went on to build Sydney Harbour Bridge, which opened three years later in 1932. At the time of its construction the Tyne Bridge was the world's longest single span bridge and was officially opened on 10 October 1928 by King George V.

One of the oldest bridges spanning the River Tyne, the High Level Bridge was completed in 1849. It was designed by Robert Stephenson in the early days of the railways to provide a rail link to Scotland. the bridge is still in use and provides an interesting walk for pedestrians heading towards the Castle and Cathedral of Newcastle upon Tyne that can both be seen in the right of the picture. Trying out some things with a smartphone (Samsung Galaxy S4) with cheap fisheye lens attached, brought out this interesting image of the Tyne Bridge, Newcastle Upon Tyne
