Taking in the Autumn view from the Northern end of Wast Water in the Lake District with low cloud hanging over Yewbarrow Fell to the left and, in the distance, Great Gable Mountain. The Lake and surrounding fells in Wasdale are a popular spot for walkers. I think they look even more spectular in Autumn don't you ?

Wast Water in Wasdale is fed by the highest mountains in England and also happens to be England's deepest lake. This image was captured on one of those days when the Sun was out one moment and gone the next, Through the breaks in the clouds you see the azure blue sky, and where the Sun did shine, the hills were bathed in glorious colours. The day was mainly still so the lake was calm, but I've seen it on days when the winds were strong enough to form white-capped waves. The lake is flanked by the Wast Water screes, where broken rock, that has been fractured by ice action, has tumbled down the cliff face to collect in a giant mass at the shore of the lake. This is a stunningly beautiful place.

Less commercialised than some of the lakes, Wast Water in the Western Lake District in Wasdale is popular with fell walkers a visitors who want to enjoy what has been voted as one of Britain's favourite views. In this image Great Gable Mountain is in the centre. The lake is almost 3 miles long and more than one-third mile wide.
