This image was taken from Zell am See in Austria looking north past moored pleasure boats and the Grand Hotel towards the Kitzbuhel Alps. This beautiful area is a mecca for tourists in both summer and winter and is stunningly beautiful at all times of the year

I painted this after a buyer requested another cat painting the same size and similar style to a another one she purchased from me earlier. I told her I am not good at commissions, because they are too stressful for me, but I told her I would show it to her before I publish it. When I finally finished it, I absolutely loved it, and I knew I was not going to change it. I was sure she wouldn’t like it, but I showed it to her anyway, and she loved it and bought it immediately. For some reason a lot of people loved it, when I shared it on social media. It just about went viral, so, here it is on various products.

Colourful cats, are a favourite subject for me. I was first inspired by the art of Laurel Burch, but inspiration comes from many places.

Nine pussycats, perhaps they are family or friends. What is the story, who knows. You can make up your own story, or have a conversation with the kids about them. Which is your favourite, or what are they doing there? Original has been sold.

I decided to turn one of my painting designs into a Christmas tree. It was an experiment with my new procreate app, but I liked the result.

Watercolour on Fluid watercolour paper. Intuitive painting, one of my favourite subjects is topaint fantasy ladies.

My most recent cat painting which I created at the same time as a commission. The other , similar painting was created for a client, and this was an alternative choice, in case the client preferred this one. This one was created with some influence of the client’s description of her cats, but I exercised a lot of artistic licence, for instance adding an extra cat. In the end the client chose the other cat painting, and this one sold very quickly on Bluethumb.

Just a fun doodle I did recently . The theme was party hats. Someone suggested it would look good on some fabric, so I thought, why not try it out on Redbubble. Watercolour, mixed media, and slightly tweaked on my computer.

This is a painting is an earlier work, which I painted I 2007. I only just sold the original. I decided to list it on Bluethumb, and sold almost immediately. I’m glad I managed to get a high resolution photo, so if you love this painting, you can still own it as a print or on various products.

Kookaburra

Spring is here at last. We've even had our first summer like days. I always feel more inspired when the weather gets warm. I am trying to capture how I feel about the flowers in the gardens, and to show my love of them. I think I've succeeded in communicating my excitement about spring. Acrylics 60 x 60 cm

I created this painting just for fun, It is an acrylic painting on canvas, 40 " x40 " or 102 cm x 102 cm . Original painting is still available from my Bluethumb gallery, which can be viewed online.

This started out as a watercolour, work in progress, which I decided to experiment with Procreate. So now I still have my watercolour, and a brand new digital rooster. Each one is unique. I love how this turned out.

Something inspired by too many rainy days, but also wanted to do something for my class, to demonstrate the use of masking fluid. Original was A4 size watercolour on watercolour paper. I took a photo and used some photoshop filters to create this image. I may go back to the original watercolour, after seeing this version.

This is a little fun doodle I did a couple of years ago. It was inspired by a visit to Brighton Beach! I eventually did a large panorama in Acrylics. I thought it might be fun to include in my beach calendar. Not sure if it will show up well. It is rather small, and wasn't meant to be shown. Two years after I made it, I'm kind of growing fond of it, especially the mermaids under water. :) Sheila is swimming with the mermaids underwater.

Watercolour and ink - done at Newport Life Drawing. http://leonie-newportlifedrawing.blogspot.com/ It's not a class, but rather a place where artists can come on any Saturday afternoon and draw a life model. I try to get there as often as possible. Each 2 hour session usually has 11 poses - they start with 5 x 2 min poses, then 2 x 5 minutes, 2 x 10 minutes, and finally 2 x 20 minute poses. This one is a 20 minute pose, which I was particularly happy with.

Watercolour A4 size. This was inspired by a silk painting I saw in a book. I had fun doing this. I got some of my students to do their own version as an exercise.

This is one of many little fish doodles I did just for fun and to practice my watercolour techniques.

Sorry, can't think of a better name. Any suggestions welcome. I made this little watercolour to fit a frame I already had. I was going to put it into an exhibition, but then opted not to. Only 24 cm x 11 cm. I do like the colours in this, which was produced by glazing one colour over another. Kind of like layering one colour glass over another colour. By the way, I should have perhaps mentioned that this image has been enhanced in photoshop.

Here's a bit of fun. Watercolor on Arches paper. 28 cm x 19 cm This is an experimental piece I did just for fun. I was really just playing with my watercolors, trying out new techniques. I started with an underpainting, and then painted the abstract fish over the top after it dried. In some areas you can see the salt effects, which is a favorite technique, as well as glazing of one color over another.

Yesterday morning I joined Gwen's class for painting "en plein air" as the French say. There is nothing like this experience. This is only the third time I've actually painted in the open air, just to explain why this looks more amateur than some of my other work. In spite of it's flaws, I was still happy with this spontaneous sketch. I used pen and watercolour wash, and I think I like that combination and plan to use it more often. Update (March 20th, 2011): I entered this in the Qenos art show, which is an annual competition held by Hobson's Bay Arts Society. It won 1st prize in watercolour, and also sold. Well, goes to show you, that a little painting, done in just a short time can still kick ass, lol. :)

Acrylics on 3 D canvas 18 cm x 13 cm . I painted this for our Art Society's Little Gems exhibition, which requires paintings to be no bigger than A4 size including frame.

The first of my series of watercolour Christmas / Winter themed cards. This was inspired by a little plush snowman my sister sent me for Christmas one year. Not a great painting, but hopefully the next ones will be better. A 5 size, which is about 1/2 standard letter size. Watercolour on watercolour paper.

Just a small watercolor I did a while ago. A friend bought it, but I managed to get a good photo. This will be one I might include in my Fish calendar.
