Japanese Yokai Amabie

The amabie is a mythological Japanese creature. Rising from the sea, this scaled, long-haired, beaked & three-legged creature has the ability to forecast harvest. According to legend, if an image of the amabie is shown to the ill, they will be cured. This is my interpretation, where it's actually a mermaid wearing a mask who appeared.

The amabie (Japanese ア マ ビ エ) is a Japanese mythical creature (yōkai), mostly described as a mermaid or merman with three legs, supposedly rising from the sea and predicting either a good harvest or an epidemic.

According to popular legend, she asks potential victims if they think she is attractive. If they respond with "no", she will kill them with her weapon. If they say "yes", she will reveal that the corners of her mouth are slit from ear to ear, and she will then repeat her question. If the individual responds with "no", she will kill them with her weapon, and if they say "yes", she will cut the corners of their mouth in such a way that resembles her own disfigurement.

This Yokai, Amabie, appeared in in the water in the mid 1800s in Japan and it said that should there be an outbreak of disease, one should immediately show the Amabie’s picture to people everywhere, as it would protect them against harm. I heard this story and decided to draw a picture. It has three feet, scales, long hair, a beak and it glows. This was my interpretation, there are many others, check it out.
