Civilian Defense Tank Tops

Office of Civilian Defense was a United States federal emergency war agency set up May 20, 1941, by Executive Order 8757 to co-ordinate state and federal measures for protection of civilians in case of war emergency. Its two branches supervised protective functions such as blackouts and special fire protection and "war service" functions such as child care, health, housing, and transportation. It also created the Civil Air Patrol. The agency was terminated by Executive Order 9562 of June 4, 1945, and its functions were later assumed by the Office of Civil Defense in 1961, using this same logo, which was used to mark fallout shelters. After 1979, FEMA assumed its duties.

This is a digitally enhanced and restored by hand poster print by John McGrady, an artist during the 1930's and 1940's. He along with several other artists painted and designed posters for various US Government agencies to boost morale and the war effort during World War II and shortly after the Great Depression. This poster comes from the WPA Office of War Services in Louisiana and seeks to find recruits for Decontamination Squads with the Office of Civilian Defense. I have restored this image by hand utilizing the best tools and software I can to make sure this image prints to look fantastic!
