I spotted two of these gems beside a walking track at Currarong on the South Coast. This is a Fringe Lily – Thysanotus tuberosus. The research tells me that this plant flowers in the southern spring from October to December. The flowers open for just one day. For the macro groups, this flower is about 2 cms across. I was tempted to call this one the Carrot Cake Currarong Kookaburra. This fella or one of his mates later flew into the boot of my car to pinch a piece of carrot cake. Thanks to Keith's wife Lorraine for the beautiful carrot cake ! Given that they eat snakes & lizards, I would have thought that something like that would be too sweet for him.
