Portland Bill Lighthouse is a functioning lighthouse at Portland Bill, on the Isle of Portland, Dorset, England. The lighthouse and its boundary walls are Grade II Listed. As Portland's largest and most recent lighthouse, the Trinity House operated Portland Bill Lighthouse is distinctively white and red striped, standing at a height of 41 metres (135 ft). The tower is approximately 114 feet.

GDSF 2015 - Stanley Steam Car Number of views as of 16th April 2018 = 520. This Stanley EX, 10 horse-power steam car, built in 1907, is still capable of quite a turn of speed, and is seen here being put through its paces at the Great Dorset Steam Fair at Tarrant Hinton, near Blandford, Dorset, England. This car is one of only three in the United Kingdom and one of only 31 in the world. The Stanley Motor Carriage Company was based in Newton, Massachusetts in the United States and manufactured steam powered vehicles including this one between 1902 and 1924. The company was founded by twin brothers Francis and Freelan Stanley, who produced their first car in 1897. Date: 5th September 2015.

Crocus Cluster Number of views as of 9th October 2018 = 460. A sure sign of springtime, the humble crocus (plural crocuses or croci) is common in coastal and sub-alpine areas of central and southern Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, and across Central Asia to western China. There are about 80 species, mostly hardy perennials, they grow from 'corms' and are part of the iris family (Iridaceae). They come in various colours, although lilac, mauve, yellow and white are the most common. Interesting fact: the spice saffron is obtained from the stigmas of Crocus sativus, an autumn/fall-blooming species. These croci were photographed in Bournemouth Gardens, Dorset, England. For this painting I've chosen a rather unusual view of Lyme Regis. Most people would stand at one of the levels here and photograph towards the shore, but here I've stood with my back to the sea, looking over the tops of parked cars to view the jumble of walls and buildings at the focal point of this Dorset seaside town. Its the point where the two roads in meet at the shore, and where you can catch the bus home again. Its a view with lots of details to keep you looking! I've painted this in oil on a 12x12 inch board.
