Monterey Festival Tank Tops

Another of my nostalgic memorabilia art. This event took place in September 20, 1963 at the Monterey Jazz Festival, which brought this amazing jazz masters in an incredible 'quintet' to make magic that glorious night. This is the art poster that promote that event back then.

The Monterey International Pop Festival was a three-day concert event held June 16 to June 18, 1967 at the Monterey County Fairgrounds in Monterey, California. The festival is remembered for the first major American appearances by numerous major artists of the '60s. The event embodied the theme of California as a focal point for the counterculture and generally is regarded as one of the beginnings of the “Summer of Love” in 1967. Because Monterey was widely promoted and heavily attended, featured historic performances, and was the subject of a popular theatrical documentary film, it became an inspiration and a template for future music festivals for decades to come...

The festival is held annually on the 20-acre oak-studded Monterey County Fairgrounds, located at 2004 Fairground Road in Monterey. That year was my first time at a jazz concert and the first time at this amazing festival.

Castroville, California, which bills itself as the "Artichoke Center of the World," sees artichoke fans and foodies from around the world make their way to Monterey County each year, and the festival has grown so large that it has been moved out of the town, into a nearby convention center.
