Keith Black was an American producer of high-performance drag racing engines. Black first made a name for himself in the mid-1940s in boat racing when he set a world record in his second time out at the Salton Sea running one of his first performance engines. He opened Keith Black Racing Engines in 1959 and by 1961 his boat racing exploits included nearly 50 international and national records. Drag racing teams took notice and Black’s builds for the drag strip became one of the winningest engines in the NHRA in the ’60s and his aluminum engine blocks would dominate the market throughout the ’70s. The engines Keith Black produced were based on the Chrysler 426 Hemi, Chevy Big Block, and Oldsmobile Big Block designs.

Vintage Salton Sea Motel

The Salton Sea is the largest lake in California by surface area, and its very existence is a total accident. In 1905, flooding caused the Colorado River to spill over the man-made irrigation canals to pour into what was then known as the Salton Sink – a 40-mile-long dry desert basin. It took two years to stop the flooding, during which the Salton Sink had filled up and formed the Salton Sea. it didn’t take long before people began flocking to this desert oasis as a weekend getaway to picnic and play in the lake. While smaller settlements had popped up over the years, Salton City was established in 1958 and the town’s population quickly grew to 15,000 people, with thousands more arriving on the weekends.

Sandy Shores is a small desert town located in the middle of the Grand Senora Desert in Blaine County, San Andreas, that appears in GTA V. Situated south of Grapeseed, Sandy Shores sits on the coastline of the Alamo Sea and overlooks the towering Mount Chiliad. It's a beach town nowhere near the ocean, where the city center is a trailer park and the beach is a mixture of toxic sludge and pulverized fish bones. It has a dry, arid climate, and is home to many coyotes and bike gang members, both of which frequently end up as roadkill. At some point in time, it had a population of approximately 3,010, as seen on a welcome sign on the approach to the town. Sandy Shores is based on California's real life Salton Sea region.
