The statue 1101, locally known as Tommy is of a First World War British Tommy, striking a pose of tiredness. Tommy sits on the seafront at Seaham Harbour in County Durham and was recently voted the best art work in the UK. Here the image has been enhanced with the important words 'Lest We Forget'. The stone poppy is recreated each year on the approach to Remembrance Sunday and differs in style.

The old wagon wheels are a set of wheels that are visible at low tide on the old 'Chemical Beach' situated at Seaham Harbour on the north east coast of England. They are from an old wagon that used to run along a line from the area of the old chemical works to the harbours. The slow shutter of what was a fantastic sky adds to the character of the image.

He reflects upon the sheer horror of World War One during the first minute after peace was declared in 1918. This imposing metal sculpture, entitled 1101, owing to the fact the armistice went into effect at 11am on November 11, 1918, stands 9ft 5ins tall and weighs 1.2 tonnes. Built out of special corteen steel, it has been installed on Seaham seafront in Country Durham to mark the centenary of the start of the Great War. Created by local artist Ray Lonsdale, the sculpture is also intended to represent Post Traumatic Stress Disorder which many of the returning soldiers endured.

The locally named Chemical Beach at Seaham Harbour on the County Durham Coast of northern England is named after the old chemical works that was located close to the cliffs in the 1800's. The waste from the works ran in pipes to the sea where is was disgorged. Over the years, much work has been carried out to create clean beaches. However, signs of the old damage persist. The area can produce almost alien looking images at both sunrise and sunset.
