Stickle Tarn Tank Tops

Originally captured on film in the winter of 1984, this is an image of Stickle Tarn with Pavey Ark beyond. The tarn, a lake that resides in a hanging valley above the Langdale Valley, is perhaps one of the most visited mountain tarns in the Lake District National Park, in England. The tarn is about 300–350 metres above the valley. The well worn path that wends its way up to the tarn follows Mill Ghyll, the stream that is the outflow from the tarn. The more intrepid of hikers will then go around the tarn and ascend Pavey Ark, the mountainous cliff across from the tarn, which is about another 200 metres of ascent, and then on to Harrison Stickle which is off to the left. One of the most restful views in the Lake District National Park in the UK is that across Blea Tarn to the Langdale Pikes. Harrison Stickle is the prominent peak with Pavey Ark to its right. In this image though, it's the calmness of the tarn with the tree and mountains beyond that really grabbed my attention. What a lovely spot.

On a calm day in the Lake District National Park in the UK, there's nothing quite as lovely as spending a bit of time enjoying the wonderful scenery around Blea Tarn. The tarn is a small lake nestled in the mountains and carved out by a long-receded glacier.

When done, a pint at one of the three pubs in the valley would be the reward.

One of my favourite places in the world to visit has to be the Lake District in England. I love the many scenic landscape views the lake district has to offer and it is a place of pure natural beauty. This design incorporates Stickle Tarn into it and is entitled 'Love view'.

Originally captured on film in February 1984, this is an image of the Langdale Valley, looking up from Elterwater to the Langdale Pikes, which are in Cumbria, United Kingdom. The last time I was there, nothing much had changed except that it was a bit more crowded. The valley is one of the most popular in the Lake District, especially popular with fell walkers (hikers) who set off from here to climb to the fell tops around the valley. The word 'fell' here is a reference to the mountains, the word itself has its origins in a time when Norsemen settled the land in the early middle ages.
