Thors Well Tank Tops

Thor's Well, also known as the drainpipe of the Pacific, is located along Cape Perpetua, which is about 2 miles south of Yachats in Oregon, along U.S. Route 101. Thor's Well is a hole in the rock that only appears to drain water from the ocean. In reality the huge hole is around 20 feet deep. The well manages to produce amazing sights and is most spectacular at high tide, or during storms when water washes violently over the rocks and falls back through the hole (not for the faint of heart!). Unsuspecting tourists run the risk of being swept right into the maelstrom (a few deaths have been reported at that location). In shooting this, myself and all of my camera equipment got severely drenched in salty ocean water. Not sure yet ...

This is a wide angle shot of Cape Perpetua, which is a large forested headland projecting into the Pacific Ocean on the central Oregon Coast in Lincoln County, Oregon. It is located about 2 miles (3.2 km) south of Yachats, Oregon, along U.S. Route 101. This image was taken from the parking area along the highway and next to the Devil's Churn, a long crack in the coastal rock that fills with each ocean wave, occasionally exploding as incoming and outgoing waves collide.
