Thurne Tank Tops

A Norfolk wherry called Albion well known for her black sail on the Norfolk broads. Albion is a Norfolk trading barge specifically made for the broads around 115 years ago. This is Albion sailing past Thurne Dyke on the river Thurne. Canon Eos 600D Featured in Old Things Are Vintage

There is an empty quarter between Norwich and Great Yarmouth. Its a flat Norfolk Broads landscape criss crossed by drainage channels, and studded with the remains of old drainage mills, no longer used with the advent of electric pumps. Most are romantic ruins, but some such as this one at Thurne (just North of Acle) have been restored to their former glory. This is the last of the windmills painted from my trip several years ago. You can find the others in my Redbubble shop. I've painted this in oils on a 10x12 inch board - small enough for the brush marks to be very apparent.
