The Australian Suburbs are shifting. Gone is the good old front yard that housed the holiday caravan. Even the backyard is slowly disappearing as we make way for the new Australian McMansions. The amazing structure known as The Breadknife in the Warrumbungle National Park in NSW, Australia. This is a constant uphill track from the parking areas to this spot. A great workout for the legs & the heart. This is a great example of a volcanic fissure, where millions of years of erosion have left behind the much harder volcanic rock which previously oozed into crevices in the side of a volcano. At this stage I had climbed so much up the hill/mountain that I was happy to stop & take some photos. St Paul's Catholic Church at Hill End photographed at the Redbubble Rumble, June 2014. I love the old rustic fence around this building. In 1851, alluvial gold was first found in the Hill End goldfields. The population of Hill End exploded following these early discoveries and, by the second rush in 1872, it was the largest inland settlement in the NSW colony. A very wet April 2015 meant that the waterfalls were flowing stronger than usual. Wentworth Falls normally has a modest amount of water flowing over it, so this amount is quite unusual & was great to see. I got as much of Fitzroy Falls in this shot as the high railing at the lookout would allow. It is a two photo stitch. The majestic view from Grand High Tops in the Warrumbungle National Park near Coonabarabran in north western New South Wales, Australia. Crater Bluff is in the foreground with Tonduron Spire in the background. Both structures are volcanic plugs formed after millions of years of erosion exposes the solidified vents of old volcanos. I have a similar shot from this spot in my gallery but this one shows how my photography has improved over the years (I hope). As I reached Grand High Tops, a wedge tailed eagle hovered over us, giving the place a sense of grandeur. On the Wentworth Pass track starting at the Valley of the Waters, heading past the world famous Sylvia Falls is this beautiful sight. It needed a tight angle because of the small trees obstructing the view. Recent rain made this waterfall more photogenic & the track muddy & slippery. This track leads to Vera Falls & then on to Wentworth Falls but it started to rain making it slippery & dangerous down there. The track is advertised as being for the more experienced hiker. I love the way the new growth on the ferns brings a spray of autumnal colours to the scene (in spring) .. bottom right. The amazing Liffey Falls near Deloraine in Tasmania. This view is available on a short track from the carpark. I took this in early 2010 when I was very new to waterfall photography & an exposure of 5 seconds was a bit too long in the conditions. Thus the overexposed section in the middle.
