While the shamrock gets most of the glory in modern times, it's actually the Celtic harp that has been the major emblem of Ireland throughout history! The history of this emblem of the Emerald Isle stretches back into ancient times. It was the most sought after instrument throughout all of the Celtic lands, not just Ireland. Scotland, Wales, Brittany, anywhere there were vestiges of Celtic culture you would find the Celtic harp. The Irish have a long history where music plays a key role...the Celtic harp is one of the traditional instruments often used. My version features an ivory angel figurehead with ornate wood base and knotwork decoration. Green shamrock accent on top border.

The Celtic goddess Brighid. On the first of February, the Irish celebrate this goddess (or her Christianized version, Saint Brigid) on Brigid's Day. The pagans celebrate them, Imbolc. I have always loved this figure and its symbols. Perhaps it is partly because of the symbolism of the candles and the light that brings her closer to Lucia and Hekate: light in the darkness, inner light etc. ?️ For Brighid is the Celtic goddess of the Forge, poetry, medicine, crafts, sacred wells and cattle.
