Dragons were an important part of Celtic lore. The Celts believed that dragons influenced the land.

I did this bull elk in what could be called a Neo-Celtic or Neo-Nordic style. The stippling and knots are more traditional, but the image has a modern edginess to it. Elk and other antlered species have been a popular archetype representing strength, power, and virility going back to ancient times.

Celtic warriors have been renowned for their prowess on the battlefield since ancient times. They were head hunters, displaying the heads of their slain victims in their homes as trophies, and they charged into battle adorned in blue war paint. This artwork pays homage to the Celtic warrior legacy; specifically, the Irish who have long been known to some of the greatest of the Celtic warriors.

While the shamrock gets most of the glory in modern times, it's actually the Celtic harp that has been the major emblem of Ireland throughout history! The history of this emblem of the Emerald Isle stretches back into ancient times. It was the most sought after instrument throughout all of the Celtic lands, not just Ireland. Scotland, Wales, Brittany, anywhere there were vestiges of Celtic culture you would find the Celtic harp. In fact, the harp was so prominent in Celtic culture, that the Celtic harp came to symbolize them as a people. You can find images of the Celtic harp on the flags of the Irish regiments of the American Civil war, the Guinness emblem, and many other logos where "Irishness" is meant to be demonstrated. S...

The Celtic harp is a triangular harp traditional to Brittany, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. In Ireland and Scotland it was a wire-strung instrument requiring great skill and long practice to play, and was associated with the Gaelic ruling class. In the Republic of Ireland, it appears on the coins and coat of arms. You'll even find it on the pints of Guinness that you have been guzzling down! The Irish Brigades of the American Civil War identified themselves with a green flag emblazoned with a harp. This version incorporates an angel into the construction of the instrument with the phrase "Erin Go Bragh" ("Ireland Forever") beneath the celestial looking harp. I've always thought Celtic crosses looked cool. The image of stone crosses with the intricate medieval ornamentation dotting the rolling hills of Britain and Ireland is almost eerie. It makes me think of a time when the "magic" of the old pagan ways was just meeting the new Roman Christianity. They are like a window into the past; remnants of an older, mysterious world. Not to mention the artwork on the crosses is incredible. I have also been captivated by the art work of the Vikings and Medieval Germanic peoples. Among the first known written scripts, Elder Futhark runes are an ancient and deep alphabet. The celtic knotwork is a stylized graphical representation of knots used in in auld celtic decoration. The inner-most circle is the tradition three-point celtic knot, worked in an interlace and "4 cornered" pattern. When combined the three rings make an intricate design, inspired by Celtic and ancient cultures. .

Cú Chulainn is one of the most famous of all Celtic Irish mythological heroes. He rose to fame from his exceptional skills at the Irish sport of Hurling. He then solidified his legend by killing the monstrous hound of Culann. Cú Chulainn is most famous for his great berserker rage in battle; turning himself into a giant rage monster that would slaughter men by the hundreds!

Bears have been a prominent feature in mythology and legend. Perhaps most notably by the Norse berserker warriors that looked to channel the bear’s strength and ferocity by wearing bear skins into battle. The bear has been an admired creature throughout many cultures throughout history.

This is an original interpretation of Odin entering Valhalla riding on Sleipnir from the Tjängvide image stone. Sleipnir is Odin’s faithful steed. Reknown for having EIGHT legs!

The Bhoys Are Back In Town

This design is based off of a panel from the famous Gundestrup Cauldron. The scene depicts the god-- often identified as Cernunnos-- surrounded by animals. I've recreated this design in my own style making a unique take on this Celtic/La Tene piece of art!

This design depicts this monstrous canine from Northern European legend in a "Neo-Nordic" style. There are lots of traditional style knots and patterns woven together and given a contemporary edge. The colors are distressed to give the image the look of a gold or bronze artifact that was just dug up out of a Viking chieftains burial mound! The runes towards the bottom of the image says, "FENRIR."
