It was a damp, overcast day as we walked along the Stradun, the main street in Dubrovnik's old city. We had been told by a guide a few days earlier that the old shop fronts incorporated an entrance way and a serving hatch, so the shops were quite small with many of these lined up along the building. Of course time has moved on so several of these old shops could now be one business. In this instance, "Leandro" is a fairly high-end business that mainly caters to tourists with a taste for a new watch. The entrance was a door or two along. What an amazing town. I walked the walls of Dubrovnik and stood on the shores of the Adriatic, but I still think this view, seen from Fort Lovrijenac, was my favourite one of Dubrovnik.

We were on a cruise, leaving from Split, down the Dalmatian coast. Our first port of call was the medieval town/village of Hvar, on the island of Hvar. Hvar is just a delight; We'd really like to go back. We were there in the spring before the masses arrived, so we were able to wander the narrow streets unhindered. The town is beyond picturesque and the crisp morning Adriatic light made it all the more so. This image is captured along one of the quiet lanes above the main harbour. I love the image for its unhurried feeling, its sense of history. I hope you do too!

Cruising doesn't give you much time at each port, so I quickly set out to find the real Hvar, away from the tourist traps. I was really drawn to the old man walking under the archway, through what I recall was the old town wall. I love the image for its unhurried feeling, its sense of history. I hope you do too!
