Charles (CM) Russell, the “cowboy artist”, created more than 2,000 paintings of cowboys, Indians, and landscapes set in the Western United States. He lived and worked among the cowboys and the Blood Indian tribe in his younger years. Walking in Swiss alpine meadow in summer is a delight especially is the weather is good. Here I saw a small craftsman cottage in Alpine style with wood curing in the sun. The grain was attractive with the wooden plank in golden colours. I wondered what it would be used for? Knots in a piece of timber give the wood character and reminds us that it came for a living tree. Knots are not weaknesses but part of natures unique display.
