When I saw the sun setting over the Exe Estuary in Exmouth Devon, I just had to do this painting, I hope you like it to.

The Dutch Colliers are anchored up waiting to unload their cargo of coal at Exmouth. My parents had a watercolour of this scene on the wall in our home for years, and their parents before them. I repainted it twice as large in oils on a 36 by 24 inch canvas. The original is for sale in a gold swept frame

On 27 March 1978, the Independent Broadcasting Authority invited applicants for the licence to serve the Exeter and Torbay area. Three applicants came forward – Bay City Radio in Exeter, Radio Haldon Limited in Torquay and Riviera Radio in Paignton. The IBA awarded the licence to Radio Haldon Limited on 16 June 1979. The licensee name was changed to DevonAir Radio Limited on 4 October 1979.

Red Cliffs of Devon The red, sandstone cliffs of the South-East Devon coast are some of the finest in England. This stretch of the Jurassic Coast world heritage site between Exmouth and Budleigh Salterton is particularly impressive, and the red cliffs contrast superbly with the clear, bright blue sky on this beautiful sunny Sunday in February. The cliffs in these parts date from the Triassic period, some 200-250 million years ago. Date: 12th February 2017. Click here to see my Devon gallery.
