Giuseppe Garibaldi (4 July 1807 in Nice – 2 June 1882 on Caprera) was an Italian general and politician and nationalist who played a large role in the history of Italy. He is considered, with Camillo Cavour, Victor Emmanuel II and Giuseppe Mazzini, as one of Italy's "fathers of the fatherland". Garibaldi was a central figure in the Italian Risorgimento, since he personally commanded and fought in many military campaigns that led eventually to the formation of a unified Italy. He was appointed general by the provisional government of Milan in 1848, General of the Roman Republic in 1849 by the Minister of War, and led the Expedition of the Thousand on behalf and with the consent of Victor Emmanuel II. Did you know that Italian Americans fought on both sides during the American Civil War? From 1861-1865, the Union Army even included a Regiment known as the "Garibaldi Guard”, after the famed Italian General, Giuseppe Garibaldi! The 39th New York Infantry Regiment, which saw action in many of the war’s most important battles, wore the plumed hat of the Italian Bersaglieri into battle to honor their Italian Roots! Now you can honor yours and share this often-overlooked chapter in Italian American history by wearing this proud new design honoring the Italian contribution to the Union Cause!

It was the dawn of the third age of mankind. Ten years after the Earth Minbari war. The Babylon project was dream giving form. It's goal to prevent another war by creating a place where humans and aliens could work out their differences peacefully. It's a port of call. Home away from home for diplomas, hustlers, entrepreneurs, and wanders. Humans and aliens wrap in two million five hundred thousand tons of spinning metal, all alone in the night. It can be a dangerous place, but it's our last best hope for peace. This is the story of last of the Babylon stations. The year is 2258. The name of the place is Babylon 5.
